So, did anyone see Mary Queen of Shops on Monday? It was one I’ve been long awaiting where retail guru Mary Portas revamps 37 Old London Road, the interiors shop in Kingston that I blogged about some time ago. The transformation was so radical that, despite having been in there recently, I was a fair way into the show before I even realised it was the same shop!

Denny and Dazzle were a couple of hippies still with their feet firmly rooted in the 70s (if Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood had opened an interiors shop instead of pursuing a musical career then THIS is what it would have looked like!)

Mary took them in hand and, drawing on Denny’s (ex art teacher) skills soon had them ‘upcycling’ vintage furniture to give it a modern twist and sourcing vintage wallpaper for rock royalty Jo Wood.

Never one to shy away from anything ’70s myself I set about sourcing some 70s kitchen wallpaper myself and came up with this one from E W Moore. I’m not sure I could live with a whole wall papered in it but maybe lining the back of a dresser or some French-style cupboards?

    No? Just me then!
