    by  • October 19, 2015 • Kitchen Ideas

Lewis-Alderson-kitchen-Oct-15Far from making things more efficient, craming too many features into a kitchen can make it feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable to use. That was this situation the owners of this gorgeous kitchen found themselves in.

The previous owners had shoe-horned in an island, but it was frustratingly narrow and didn’t add anything to the kitchen – it just got in the way.

Thankfully, the couple knew who to call. They had worked with Lewis Alderson before and were sure the design team would be able to rework the space, and do it in style.

Kitchen of the Week: Open plan and perfect for entertaining

    by  • August 25, 2015 • Kitchen Ideas

Macfarlane-kitchenWhile a lot of hard work and upheaval involved goes in any major home project, the satisfaction that comes from completely transforming a tired space into a something beautiful, relevant and fabulous to use usually makes the pain worthwhile.

The young owners of this beautiful space in Edinburgh ditched a run-down kitchen in a tiny side annexe to create a spacious and stylish kitchen-living space at the heart of their Georgian home.

The couple both work in the hospitality industry, so this is a kitchen that’s designed for entertaining, with island cooking, a dining area, and comfy sofas for relaxing beyond.

Find out more about about how they achieved the look in the August/September 2015 issue of Beautiful Kitchens. On sale now at good newsagents and available to download for digital and mobile.

Keep appliances hidden in bespoke Martin Moore cabinet

    by  • August 22, 2015 • Kitchen Products

    Martin Moore A15 Architectural (8)

Bespoke kitchen specialist Martin Moore has introduced a new solution to keeping worktops clear and kitchens clutter-free. The Appliance Cupboard, shown here in a specially-created alcove, is a classic English-dresser style piece where each aspect has been designed in response to the needs of the owner. The microwave and plumbed-in coffee machine are hidden away behind cupboard doors, and other awkward kitchen items, such as juicers, cake-stands and mixers are also hidden away, ready to slide forward when needed. The shallow shelves are designed for easy view and access, a generous worktop runs the length of the cabinet, and drawers beneath provide storage for linens.

    Martin Moore A15 Architectural (7)

The Appliance Cabinet is included here as part of a bespoke Martin Moore kitchen. Kitchen prices start at £35,000, including cabinetry, appliances and fitting.
